What is What2Do?

What2Do is an AI-powered activity finder that helps you discover things to do near you. Tell us a little about yourself — your age, group, mood, and budget — and we'll surface real, specific local activities tailored just for you.

Recommendations are real places you can actually visit, generated by Claude (Anthropic's AI). Enable weather-aware suggestions to automatically filter out activities that don't match current conditions — or get a warning if it's genuinely unsafe to go outside.

How to use it

Fill in the form — enter your age, group type, location, mood, budget, and how much time you have. Toggle weather-aware suggestions on if you want conditions factored in.

Find activities or go Surprise Me — hit "Show me what to do" for tailored results, or use Surprise Me to skip the form and get random picks for any city.

Explore your results — each card shows a description, mood tag, estimated cost, duration, and a local tip. Use Decide For Me if you can't choose, or tap View on Maps to get directions.

Save and share — star any activity to save it to your Favorites (Pro), or use the Share button to copy a summary and send it to a friend.

Frequently asked questions

Is What2Do free? Yes — the Basic plan is free forever, with no credit card required to sign up. It's limited to 1 generation every 48 hours and 3 results per search. Pro removes those limits for $4.99/month.

Do I need to download an app? No. What2Do runs entirely in a web browser at what2do.me — no install required, works on desktop and mobile.

Are the suggested places real? Yes — What2Do is specifically designed to avoid inventing venues. It prefers well-known, always-open institutions and large chains for direct naming, and describes smaller/independent venues by category and neighborhood instead of guessing a specific business name it isn't confident about.

Can I use it while traveling? Yes — location is a free-text field, so it works for any city, not just a fixed list. The blog's city guides also give quick starter ideas for major world capitals without needing to use the form at all.

How is this different from just searching Google or Yelp? What2Do asks about the person (age, group type, mood, budget, time) up front and returns a tailored, ranked shortlist with reasoning ("why this matches you"), rather than an unranked list of every business tagged with a category.
